Libraries around us may be closing or downsizing, but books (both paper and electronic) are alive and well in the home of writer's today. In a recent article twelve well-known authors shared their favourite libraries and told us a bit about them.
(https://nyti.ms/2QPSC9b) Some may argue that libraries are fast becoming a thing of the past, but any good writer soon learns to develop a collection of their own to create their own library at home. Reference books, fiction and non-fiction books by great authors, dictionaries, style guide, and a thesaurus are tools in a good writer's toolbox.
As a writer and an avid reader, my collection of books is vast and varied. I have over 1200 books on my Kindle and probably even more than that in paper books. I keep nothing that I know I will not read again - so my library is well used and well loved. Each book is like an old friend, some more special than others. Many are first editions and rare and I love the feel and the smell of each one as I pull them from the shelves to read them once again. So why not develop your own amazing collection. I'd love to hear what your favourite book of all time is - let me know. One of my all time favourites is 'The Secret Garden' by Frances H. Burnett.
