Which Idea?

You may be like me and have hundreds of ideas for things that you would like to write about, but we all get that there's only so many hours in a day right? Others may struggle to find ideas and wonder where to get them? So let's look at both of these -

* If you have tons of ideas where do you start?

The simple answer to that quetion is to start with the topic or idea that excites you. When you are excited and passionate about something it becomes easy to write, rather than something you think you should write about it or have some interest in. This excitement and passion will come through in your writing too.

* If you struggle to find ideas where do you get them?

Everywhere! Think of your life experiences, look at the lives of the people around you. What do you love to do? What interests you and ignites your fire? Talk to people about their stories, about their lives....all of these things can spark something in you that you will get excited about. Read, Read, Read and read some more. Every good writer is an avid reader. Newspaper stories and headlines can give you ideas for stories and articles. I cut out everything that interests me or inspires me and keep them in a box with a lid that I call my style file. When I need an idea for an article I dig through my box, which is full to the brim of ideas. You could keep your ideas in a file or folder, on your computer, or wherever works for you. It doesn't have to be an entire article that you cut and store in there, many of mine are just headlines which give me ideas and angles to run with.
